Orthopaedic Surgery
Orthopaedic surgery is largely undertaken by Peter Rushton-Taylor and his team at Sommet Vert.
Some of the more routine orthopaedic procedures include:
TPLO (TIBIAL PLATEAU LEVELLING OSTEOTOMY)
This procedure addresses cruciate disease (stifle/knee joint) in dogs. Please see further information in our Procedures section.
PATELLA LUXATION REPAIR(KNEE CAP)
The groove the ‘knee cap’ runs through is deepened and stabilised.
PCA (PAN-CARPAL ARTHRODESIS)
Cartilage is debrided from the carpus and a bone plate is applied to fuse the joint.
PTA (PAN-TARSAL ARTHRODESIS)
Cartilage is debrided from tarsal bones and a bone plate is applied to stabilise the joint.
FRACTURE REPAIRS (INTERNAL FIXATION)
According to the injury that has occured, bone plates and screws will be fixed internally to repair the fracture.
ARTHROTOMY
The removal of abnormal joint cartilage.
BONE GRAFTS
Used to improve the healing of fractures and arthrodeses (joint fusion).
